About Me

Educational History:

Hoxie High School is my alma mater and I graduated in 1988.

I went to Arkansas State University and University of Memphis to earn my degrees.

Degrees and Certifications:

I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University in 1993.  After teaching a few years, I went back to school to earn my Master’s of Science Education in Instruction, Curriculum, and Leadership with a focus on Instructional Design and Technology.  I love using technology with my students.

Professional Development:

While I have attended National Reading, Science, Math, and technology conferences during my 21 years of teaching, most recently I attended the NSTA STEM conference in Denver.

This past summer, I began my Lit Lab training at Harding University with Ken Stamatis.  I also enjoyed an Empowering Writer’s Workshop this summer.

I place a high value on professional development and have found it to be a beneficial way of keeping myself current and refreshed each year.  If I want my students to be life-long learners, I should model that for them.

Current Position:

This is my first year here at FMIC and I am happy to be joining such a welcoming faculty.  I will be teaching Literacy and Social Studies.

Previous Position:

I spent seventeen years of my teaching career with Memphis City Schools, now Shelby County Schools, in Memphis, Tennessee.  While at Whitney Elementary and Snowden School, I taught second and third grade and worked as a Math/Technology coordinator. I then taught for four years at Richland Elementary in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Family Information:

My family and I have only recently moved to the Jonesboro area.  My husband, Brian Webb, will be teaching Physical Science at Annie Camp for JPS.  I have two boys.  Brandon is 13 and will be in the 8th grade at Brookland Junior High. My sixth grader, Alex is eleven and will attend Brookland Middle School.

Our dog, Luke, is a seven year old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and he enjoys swimming.

Personal Information:

I love to READ!  In the summer, my family and I spend time traveling and at Greers Ferry Lake.  I like to travel, explore, meet new people, and seek the beauty and fun in everything.  I like to try new foods and spend time with family and friends.
